To weigh up the pros and cons regarding whether or not to emigrate, it is worth considering all aspects of life in a foreign land. This includes the cost of living, which can factor highly depending upon the size of your family.

It is definately true, Australia is now a more expensive place to live in than it used to be.  This is especially true when you start earning Australian Dollars.  The money you have brought over from the UK may not go as far as you first hoped.

However, living in Australia is more about quality of life.  You'll probably find that expensive holidays abroad are no longer a priority as weekend (or even afternoon) trips to the beach are commonplace.  You may even spend your downtime chilling out by your own backyard pool.
